Acrobatic Gymnastics - Terms and Conditions 2024-2025
  1. Introduction:
Dance Factor’s Acrobatic Gymnastic offering strives to provide young dancers the opportunity to partake in an activity that develops sportsmanship, character, and competitiveness. We encourage high standards, develop, and improve abilities in dance, responsibility, leadership, and self-discipline. Terms and conditions for participation as part of the Dance Factor Acro Gymnastics team is set out in this agreement. By signing this, you as parent agree to comply with the requirements set out below.
  1. Membership and teams:
Teams for trio’s and duo’s are selected by the coaches and is final. No friends will be paired as teams are selected to suit each other physically. Partners and number of routines that a gymnast does for the season, will only be determined after careful assessment during the first few classes.
  1. Attendance:
Level 5 and up     -         1 x 90min class Thursdays 18:30-20:00 at Eldo Sterre Gymnastics Hall.

Level 4     -                   1 x 60min Class Thursday 17:00-18:00 at Dance Factor Studio
and once before every competition Thursday 18:30-20:00 at Eldo Sterre Gym Hall.
All gymnasts must be available for this. Take into consideration that if one gymnast is absent the whole team will be impacted negatively. A doctor’s note is required should a gymnast not be able to attend due to sickness.
Parents will be notified in advance, should additional practise time be required.
  1. Injuries:
Gymnastic activities always carry risk of injury. Rest assured that Dance Factor takes all necessary precautions to prevent injuries. Dancers must be physically fit and adhere to all safety precautions communicated to them by the coach(es). Parents are required to timeously notify the coach(es) of any injury or potential problems the dancer may have.
Dancers must be on time for class to ensure proper warmup is performed prior to class.
  1. Clothing:
To ensure uniformity of the team with competitions each dancer must have the following clothing items:
  • Dance Factor competition leotard (Orange long sleeve)
  • Team Jacket (Black Dance Factor Jacket)
  • Team socks
The items listed above is directly available at Dance Factor.
For practise sessions, dancers are required to wear a leotard. The dancer may choose to wear short ski-pants over the leotard as long as the upper thigh is exposed.
Competitions:
Each dance trio and/or duo must participate in a minimum of 3 club competitions and achieve the minimum points required for their level to qualify for Gauteng North competition participation. This is the highlight the dancers work towards during the year. Any additional progress for example to Gauteng or Gym Games (SA’s) is a bonus.

  1. Discipline in class and at competitions:
  • Gymnasts are not allowed to practice individual elements and play around on the mats or apparatus during or after class on a Thursday at Eldo Sterre
  • Gymnasts are not allowed to practice risky balance and dynamic elements without a coach’s supervision.
  • Gymnasts are not allowed to play on the mats during warm-up sessions at competitions.
  • Gymnasts are not allowed to play on the trampoline or bars at Gymfinity BEFORE they have competed.
  • Parents are not allowed to do side coaching during competitions when the gymnast is in the waiting area during their session.
  • Gymnasts need to remember that it is a group effort they put out there, and not blame fellow teammates if a routine or element did not go according to plan.
